This course is designed to train participants to recognize, report, and follow up on exposures to infectious materials, with emphasis on preventing exposure incidences. This course will give participants the knowledge of how blood borne pathogens are spread, practicing good hygiene, and the proper cleaning and disinfection of equipment and supplies. To minimize the risk of infection, it is important that everyone follow Standard Precautions.

In recent years, the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, better known as HIPAA, has changed the way health information is handled and conveyed, but that is only a small part of confidentiality. Confidentiality applies to many other areas of the services you provide.

When brain cells are not working properly, a person's consciousness, movement or actions may be altered for a short time. These physical changes are called epileptic seizures. This class will cover glucometer testing, insulin pen deliveries, hypoglycemic protocol and carb counting.
