From Face Paint to Polka: Highlights from Family Weekend 2025
This past weekend was a great reminder of how powerful simple joys can be. Families and Friends of St. Coletta of Wisconsin gathered together over food, games, balloons, face painting, and pure fun. These are the memories that last a lifetime.
The weekend began Friday evening when families and friends were invited to a delicious meal in each of our homes. A special thank you to our residential staff for cooking up a delicious meal and creating a relaxing space for families and friends to catch up with the individuals we serve. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect start to the weekend!
Then, the festivities continued on Saturday morning, with our annual Family Weekend presentation. Robin Baker, President and CEO of St. Coletta of Wisconsin, spoke to families and friends about all that is happening with the organization in our residential, mission effectiveness/day programs, marketing, development, and other departments, and she answered questions regarding our new strategic plan for 2025-2028. The latter half of Saturday was bursting with energy and classic fun. The afternoon rolled on with picnic games that brought out everyone’s playful—and slightly competitive—side. From tic-tac-toe and Plinko to mini-golf challenges, the area was alive. Prizes were won, memories were made, and joy was shared by all. Our younger guests even lit up with creative face paint designs and balloon animals shaped into flowers, butterflies, and all sorts of creatures.
And then there were the dancers! A heartfelt thank-you to the Gemütlichkeit Dancers, whose lively polka performances never fail to get feet tapping and spirits soaring. Their energy and tradition brought such a festive touch to the celebration. What a treat!
Of course, no picnic is complete without delicious food, and ours was a crowd-pleaser. Burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, baked beans, potato salad, and cookies (lots of cookies!) filled every plate and satisfied every appetite. There’s nothing quite like a shared meal to bring a community together.
To everyone who joined us—from near or far—thank you for making this weekend so special. It’s always a joy to gather with such a warm, vibrant community for a celebration of summer and laughter.
