Lifetime Achievement Award

The McCarthy Family

St. Coletta is honored to recognize the McCarthy family at this year’s Lead the Charge Gala for their heartfelt devotion and deeply cherished support in furthering St. Coletta’s mission. John and Cathy McCarthy are loving and nurturing parents of three, with Maggie being the oldest. Maggie began living at St. Coletta over three years ago and inspires John and Cathy to help other individuals with disabilities achieve their highest quality of life. John, author of Maggie’s Angels, shares the story of Maggie’s life and the central lessons she teaches about loving, living and learning. As he reflects, “If we ‘learn to love’ the special people in our life, ‘all the more,’ we can empower them to realize their highest aspirations.”

A Note From the McCarthys

St. Coletta, like virtually every caregiving institution, struggles to fill the financial gap between the actual cost of high quality care and what is funded by the State. A major fundraiser designed to help meet this financial challenge is the annual Lead The Charge Gala, a benefit auction and dinner. This year’s event will be held Friday evening, September 26, 2025 at Blue Mound Golf and Country Club in Wauwatosa.

What makes this year’s dinner especially meaningful for us is that our McCarthy family, Cathy, Maggie and myself, are being honored that evening with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Cathy and I are hopeful to be able to build upon this honor and recognition. Together, with your generosity and ours, we have the opportunity to make a real difference in the life of our beloved Maggie as well as the 280 individuals whose care is entrusted to St. Coletta in one of their 38 operated group homes. We are inviting you to support this year’s Gala in honor of our Maggie.
