Illinois friend of St. Coletta runs Chicago Marathon in our honor!
Posted On: September 29, 2017

I’m very excited to let you all know that I’ll be running in the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 8, 2017. With 16 weeks of training behind me and a little more than 1 to go, I’m ready to take on all 26.2 miles!  I’m running the marathon with extra purpose because I’ll be doing it in support of St. Coletta of Wisconsin (“St. Coletta”).  I’m hoping you will join me in supporting this extraordinary organization and all they do.

I strongly support St. Coletta because my younger brother, Gary, who has Down Syndrome has been with St. Coletta for more than 40 years.  Early on, Gary lived in Wisconsin and is now living back in Illinois and thriving.  Throughout the years, St. Coletta has been there to help Gary and hundreds of other individuals with developmental disabilities achieve their full potential.

For the past 6 years I’ve served as president on the board of directors of the Illinois Friends for St. Coletta-WI/IL (“Illinois Friends”).  Illinois Friends is a dedicated and hardworking Illinois-based support organization to St. Coletta and has been for more than 25 years. It has been my honor and privilege to serve on this board.  While I will remain on the board, next month I will ‘pass the baton’ to another board member to lead the organization.  Now, as a final act as president, I’d like to give a little something back to St. Coletta through this fundraising effort.

Please support my Chicago Marathon run by donating to St. Coletta.  100% of all proceeds raised will go toward funding St. Coletta’s Illinois and Wisconsin programs.  Specifically, the money raised will be used for field trips, yoga classes, drumming circle, educational day programming, recreational park district activities, Special Olympics competitive training and many more activities.  Fundamentally, this fundraising appeal is about improving the quality of life for those individuals served by St. Coletta.

There are 2 ways to give:

  •  For your online contribution connect directly to the St. Coletta of Wisconsin secure donation page by clicking here: https://stcolettawi.org/donations/donate.php.  (In Step #2, check the box and select In Honor of Gregg Odway’s 2017 Chicago Marathon Run);
  •  If you prefer, you can send a check payable to: St. Coletta of Wisconsin.  Checks can be sent directly to me at: Gregg M. Odway, 15 S. Pine Street, #508, Mount Prospect, IL 60056.  Please write “Gregg’s Marathon Run” in the memo line so funds will be properly allocated.

 St. Coletta of Wisconsin is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and 100% of your contribution is fully tax-deductible.  A letter acknowledging your online or other contribution will be sent to you directly by St. Coletta of Wisconsin by the end of the calendar year.  Please feel free to contact me at: greggodway@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Thank you in advance and please keep me in your thoughts and prayers on race day!

Sincerely,

Gregg M. Odway, President
