Owen Christopher Plumley

January 6, 1969 ~ April 29, 2022 (age 53)

Owen Christopher Plumley, 53, of Roselle, IL, formerly of Geneseo, passed away April 29, 2022, surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday May 5, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Atkinson, IL. Rev. S. Stephen Engelbrecht will officiate. Visitation is Wednesday May 4, 5 – 7 PM at Vandemore Funeral Home and Crematory-Atkinson Chapel with rosary to be recited at 4:30 PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Anthony Cemetery, Atkinson, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Coletta of Wisconsin/Illinois or Abilities Plus, Kewanee.

Owen was born January 6, 1969, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Larry R. and Sheryl K. (Harris) Plumley. He attended Geneseo schools and graduated from St. Coletta School in Jefferson, WI in 1989. He worked in several departments at St. Coletta before moving to Roselle. He continued his work with St. Coletta through educational and vocational programs while participating in numerous activities within the St. Coletta and larger communities.  Owen especially enjoyed art lessons, fishing, The Dukes of Hazzard, cheeseburgers, popcorn, spending time with his family, outings with his house mates, dancing and a good party!

Owen is survived by his mother Sheryl (Ron Brossman) of Geneseo, brothers; Garett (Ellie) Plumley of Prophetstown, IL, Marshall (Valerie) Plumley of Geneseo, step mother Janice Plumley of Geneseo, step sister Meredith (Rhett) Hodgson of Geneseo, step brother Michael (Cassie) Burrill of North Liberty, IA, many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, friends too numerous to mention, and his house mates of more than 20 years: Michael, Gary, Ron, Darel, Kurt, and Martin.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents Esther (DeSutter) Harris DeSplinter, Oliver Harris, Edward DeSplinter; paternal grandparents Russell and Bernice (Weber) Plumley; uncles Robert Harris, Donald Plumley, Allen Plumley, Arthur Jacobs, and a Cousin Billy Harris.
